Attendance Checks

1. Be in class. There are 8 attendance checks over the term, each worth 1 point. They are unannounced — you will not know ahead of time which class meeting carries one.
2. Scan the QR code on the screen. When a check is running, a QR code goes up on the projector. Point your phone camera at it and open the page it gives you. There is no login.
3. Enter your NetID and check in. The page confirms it back to you with a short receipt. Use your own NetID — that is what earns the point.
4. The window opens 10 minutes before class starts and closes 10 minutes after class ends. A scan outside that window will tell you that no check is open.
5. There is nothing to submit on Canvas. Your score is posted after class — the Canvas card is where the point lands, not where you hand something in.

• Checked in during the window → 1 point. Not checked in → 0.
• The Activities group drops your five lowest scores, so missing a check or two generally costs you nothing.
• Distance-learning students are excused automatically. You do not need to do anything, and an excused check does not count against you.

If you were in the room and your check-in did not register — or you were absent for a reason that should be excused — tell us and we will fix the score.
