Lesson 13 · In-Class Question
Standard Errors of Effects: s² in the Pilot Plant Example
An in-class activity from the course slides — reproduced here so you can find it again after class.
📋 What to do
- In general, if each factor combination was replicated, a pooled estimate of the experimental run variance from g factor combinations is s² = (v1·s1² + v2·s2² + … + vg·sg²) / (v1 + v2 + … + vg), where v = v1 + v2 + … + vg is the number of DOF of the estimate.
- In the case of g duplicate combinations it is reduced to s² = Σd² / 2g with g DOF.
- What is s² in pilot plant example? What is variance (effect) and SE (effect)?
